Surrender for survival

There's an excellent piece in the Sunday Telegraph by Labour MP Gisela Stuart, explaining very clearly why the EU in its current structure cannot possibly continue.

  1. The European Union needs not to surrender in order to survive. Rather, a reimplimentation of previous policies as well as a well structured economic crisis resolution effort must be considered. This effort must keep European interests rather than nationalistic instincts at the forefront of all intentions.
The institution of European wide use of the common currency, the Euro, is a simplistic yet foundational policy which must soon be put to action. This would enable the UK to no longer rely on its' age old history and economic seclusion, but rather to become truly part of Europe. Other modifcations must also be made to policy regarding economic crisis, which emphasize European interests rather than national pride and prosperity. The European Union may be on the brink of disaster as this article suggests, however, this optimistic blogger feels cohersive action in combination with strict policy changes can and will enable a long laster European Union.
